Organic, Natural, and Eco-Friendly - My Earth Potions

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in skincare but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kristina Delaski, Founder of My Earth Potions, located in Temecula, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Hi! My Earth Potions is an organic and sustainable skincare line that I started in 2019 because I wanted to reduce my personal plastic waste and wanted to share that with others. My customers tend to be more eco-conscious and gravitate towards organic and natural products.

Tell us about yourself

I created My Earth Potions because I was really trying to minimize my plastic waste and increase natural and organic products in my life. I've always loved being in nature and was fairly aware of my impact on the planet. As I grew more aware, I wanted to make a positive impact that could ripple beyond just myself. I saw a need for clean skincare and wanted to share that with others!

I would say my motivation comes from being part of the growing market of truly sustainable and clean products. We vote with our dollar, so that shows me that people actually do care about the health of our planet! My returning customers also motivate me a great deal. It means I'm doing something right, haha. Being a Latina woman and making space for more Latinos as small business owners is pretty motivating as well!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment would have to be that I keep pushing forward, even when I feel completely lost with certain aspects of running a business. I love creating clean products that I get to share with everyone, so that keeps me going. Also, growing as an individual and businesswoman through this process has been a great accomplishment for me. I doubted myself often and still second-guess myself to this day, but I'm still here!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, the hardest thing about being a business owner is having to wear multiple hats. It's just me, so it can feel quite overwhelming at times. Social media and selling myself/products don't come naturally to me either. I'm literally figuring it out as I go. I'm also not the most organized, so that doesn't help much, either... lol.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just do it! Stop overthinking it and dive in! You'll never be ready, but you'll figure it out along the way.
  2. Be patient with yourself. Not everything will come naturally, and that's okay.
  3. Network and get to know your fellow small-biz people. I've learned so much from other vendors at pop-up markets and created new friendships from it!
