What's your business, and who are your customers?

MYSA Natural Wine is a natural wine club and eCommerce platform focused exclusively on natural wines. Our customers are natural wine enthusiasts and people interested in getting into this category.

Tell us about yourself

Initially, I got into wine for fun as a hobby after my day job doing consulting. Over time I decided to start looking into importing wines and ended up moving to Spain with my now husband to be closer to where the natural wine was being produced that we love so much. (Fun fact, there's a House Hunters International episode about us called Doggy and Vino in Barcelona.) Working with small producers and importers to bring amazing wines that are made in line with my values as someone focused on sustainability is a really rewarding job to be able to do and makes me excited to work on this project every day!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Scaling the business to 7 figures in the first two years and getting asked by other brands to run their wine clubs for them since we saw so much success with ours.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Cashflow is really tricky to manage, especially when you're small and don't have fancy accounting tools!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start small and scrappy, we never took outside investment, and that was definitely the right call for my business style.
  2. Don't give up. Good things typically happen right after the most difficult time, so ensure you have the strength to keep going before you get started!
  3. Be consistent! Consistency is key to getting good at anything, and consistency builds trust with your audience (whether on social, your product scaling, etc.). Stay consistent and keep your word to your customer!
