Nourish. Achieve. Discover - NAD Nutrition

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and nutrition but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nadine Khoury, founder of NAD Nutrition, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business helps clients achieve their health goals naturally through adequate and balanced quality food components, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications. I help my clients increase their body awareness of foods and achieve optimal health naturally using food as a medicine approach. Most of my clients suffer from some form of inflammation, including weight issues, mental health concerns, or digestive issues, and I enjoy helping them figure out the root causes of their symptoms.

Tell us about yourself

I am a successful dietitian with 25 years of experience and a flourishing private practice, one that is rooted in a patient-centered and integrative approach to client care. I have extensive experience developing individualized nutrition programs. I can help address numerous health needs, such as weight management, body composition changes, digestive discomfort, and inflammatory conditions. I love to engage in continuous learning and am always looking for new ways to grow.

I have an undergraduate bachelor of science from McGill University, a Master's in Nutrition Communication from Ryerson University, a behaviour modification certificate, a digestive health low FODMAP certificate, and Integrative and Functional Nutrition Practitioner credentials.

I am passionate about promoting a positive relationship with food and advocating for a balanced lifestyle that prevents disease development and promotes optimal well-being.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is my ability to improve my clients' quality of life and well-being. This is reflected by my 5-star google reviews score and the many returning clients and referrals I receive. I have built my practice from the ground up with 50% growth from year to year.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest things that come with being a business owner are the responsibility of ongoing creation of programs and materials to support the practice's growth and the administrative tasks of promoting the business to ensure an ongoing stream of referrals and inquiries.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I would advise anyone looking to start, run or grow a business first to take on placement to get some experience with someone successful at a similar business. Then, figure out how you can bring something new to the table or fill a gap in the market to reduce competition, and finally, take the chance and just get started. You can figure out a lot as you go, so there is no need to expect perfection when starting a new business.
