What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a dietitian nutrition coach that helps all individuals with weight management goals improve their energy levels and gut health. My clients come from all over the United States since it's a virtual program, and they seek to improve their relationship with food while working on their core health goals which may include weight loss.

Tell us about yourself

I love food, and when I was younger, I spent various years ambulating with a wheelchair eating excessive calories, which of course, led to weight gain. After getting older, I looked for advice from so many individuals that called themselves "nutritionists" but were not qualified. This led me to go down a deep tunnel of confusion, and I got tired of it! Therefore decided to become a registered dietitian and further my education by learning about human behavior to create a different nutrition program.

I started this company to help individuals who want to lose weight without the fad diets and prevent them from going through what I had to. These days, we open social media and hear about a new diet that someone tried and lost a massive amount of weight. However, the story doesn't share if they gained it back, lost energy, or decreased their quality of life. Think about it, when we start a diet, we typically remove certain foods and usually the ones we like, and when we go out with friends and family, and the "bad" food is around, it affects our actions and thoughts.

The reality is there is no such thing as good or bad food; all foods can fit into a healthy lifestyle! People just have to learn how, which is what I love to do! I'm motivated by my clients' results and how they feel when they graduate from the program. I love the feeling of knowing I'm helping people remove the need to rely on other nutrition programs or google for their answers. This program is literally designed to be the last nutrition program my clients will ever have to try, and I love that I can provide that for them!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is developing a virtual program that is accessible and individualized for my client and works! It's one thing to have hopes and dreams; it's a different ball game to put them into action and see them work! It can be scary at first, but with growth comes fear and excitement!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The unknown can be intimidating at times as a business owner. Starting something that has so much competition, especially in California. However, fear is not my driver, my dreams and clients are. I'm comfortable taking calculated risks seeing that's how I've been able to grow all these years in my profession.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The hardest part is to start! I would encourage imperfection action over perfection any day. The most successful people have failed much more than we may think. Create a plan, don't just wish for something, take action! And lastly, believe in yourself and don't be afraid to invest in your dreams. You're worth it!
