What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a global leadership communication training firm dedicated to building cultures of Compassionate Accountability®. Your brand is determined by the quality of your culture. Culture is the sum of every interaction between your people. We help leaders improve the quality of every interaction for healthier cultures and stronger brands.

Tell us about yourself

I am motivated every day to bring more compassion to every workplace. I started my career as a clinical psychologist and realized after a decade of practice that the corporate world was in desperate need of help to build stronger, more compassionate relationships where people could thrive, and drama was minimized. Next Element was founded by four partners who were passionate about teaching leaders to communicate better, negotiate conflict better, and improve the quality of relationships at work. We are committed to practicing what we preach and delivering measurable results for our clients. We are the world pioneers in the area of compassionate accountability.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We weathered the 2008-2009 recession, we weathered the COVID pandemic, and we continue to grow. We've done this by adapting to delivering relevant, effective, and practical leadership communication skills training that has helped our clients make it through these same tough times. Throughout, we've never lost sight of our core mission - to bring more compassion to every workplace.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Accountability to be viable so that employees have a job. Along with that, maintaining focus on the why, keeping open communication, and ensuring each person feels valued, included, and involved. Also difficult is staying true to our mission and quality standards while adapting to changing conditions and client demands.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know your why. Be clear about the difference you want to make in the world and how you will go about that.
  2. Be open to feedback and be willing to experiment and learn quickly because you don't know what you don't know.
  3. Don't give up; keep showing up. This is a long game of perseverance and relationship building.
