Reconnect to Your Body - Nicole Lindauer Mind+Body Integration

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nicole Lindauer, Founder of Nicole Lindauer Mind+Body Integration, located in Reno, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I offer somatic healing services in the form of Somatic Yoga and breathwork. Somatic healing practices look at the mind-body connection and put you in touch with your internal self so that you can listen to signals your body sends about areas of pain, discomfort, or imbalance. These practices allow you to access more information about the ways you hold onto your experiences in your body and allow you to self-regulate, heal, and expand. I work with people dealing with trauma, pain conditions, chronic illness, injury, limited mobility, emotional obstacles, and anybody that is looking for a closer relationship with themselves.

Tell us about yourself

My desire to facilitate this work and open my business came from my own experience with chronic illness. In my late 20's, I was diagnosed with multiple autoimmune diseases, a chronic pain condition, and C-PTSD. I didn't feel supported by traditional western medicine and took action to bring myself back to balance, focusing holistically on my whole being. I realized that my experience is an all too common one for people facing these challenges, and I am passionate about supporting and educating others in self-healing.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment so far has been opening at the start of a pandemic and adapting it to an online business offering virtual services. It was a case of turning lemons into lemonade, and I have been able to reach people I wouldn't have had access to without taking my services online.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think the hardest thing that comes with owning a business is juggling the many different aspects of the business as a one-woman show. It takes a great amount of focus, creativity, and a lot of self-care.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a plan and keep an open mind to new ideas. The more open and adaptable you are, the more you can change and evolve your plan as your business unfolds.
  2. Small incremental steps lead to big results. Taking one step every day will bring you closer to your business goals. This has been a powerful practice that's helped me fuel momentum and lessen overwhelm.
  3. It takes time to build and expand a business. It requires patience and persistence. Stay with yourself and enjoy the journey.
