Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jobby John, CEO and Founder of Nimbus Healthcare, located in Austin, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Nimbus provides personalized medicine for Hair Restoration and Hormone Optimization. We utilize advanced at-home testing to personalize your prescription for your unique biochemistry. We use FDA-approved ingredients to maximize effectiveness and results from the comfort of your home.

From the start of the process with testing all the way through compounded personalized prescriptions and continued care, Nimbus is one of the first fully integrated telehealth systems addressing hormone imbalance, hair loss, and other lifestyle issues.

Tell us about yourself

I am a compounding pharmacist who has been providing personalized compounded prescriptions to patients for over a decade. Personalized medicine provides faster and more efficacious outcomes but is often only accessible to people who can afford to see concierge medicine doctors or other top-level medical practitioners who are very expensive. Our goal at Nimbus is to increase access to personalized medicine and provide affordable options so that everyone can enjoy the same level of care.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I started my first pharmacy right out of school at the age of 26. At that time, I was one of the youngest pharmacy owners in the United States. Everyone thought I was going to fail and out of my mind to compete with the bigger pharmacies like CVS, Walgreens, etc., but I stuck to my vision and was resilient. Since then, I have owned and operated more than six pharmacies and started Nimbus. My biggest accomplishment to this day is still having the fortitude and resilience to start a business from ground zero when I was right out of college.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest and most important things in a startup is building the right team. You can have a great business idea and platform, but if you don't have the right support staff in place, you will never realize your potential. I always tell people that "Pharmacy is not a drug business... It is a people business".

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Build a good team. Learn to delegate duties.
  2. Prioritize your sleep and health so that you can optimize your performance when you're "ON."
  3. Focus on ROI. There are a million ways to scale a business once you get going. Stick to your budget and focus on ROI.
