Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tatiana Freeman, Founder and CEO of Nosh Posh, located in Saint Paul, MN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

At Nosh Posh, we believe that the healthy choice and the convenience choice should be one and the same. Our commitment to sourcing every product exclusively from suppliers that are BIPOC or women-owned businesses is our way of leading with inclusion, bridging access for diverse suppliers in an effort to reimagine healthy convenience, and our belief that diverse and local suppliers affirm commercial and social benefits that promote quality and drive down costs. Offering products via our snack box, fresh food vending machines, and in-office snack program provides innovative access points, making healthier snacks easier to get.

We are working on expanding with corporate clients interested in our in-office snack program and Nosh Posh Classic Variety Box. As well as co-working spaces interested in our fresh food vending machines.

Tell us about yourself

I am one of the millions of Americans who started a small business during COVID. When my job as a Housing Manager ended in February 2020, I knew I had no desire to run back to working a traditional 9-5. While entrepreneurship had never been something I considered in the past, I was inspired by my boyfriend's tenacity as the owner of a transportation and moving company to start my own business. I made the decision to take my tax return and invest in myself! I realized that starting a business was more about creating solutions for my potential customers, an opportunity to create generational wealth and provide my daughter with choices.

I am motivated by a desire to live a life of abundance by making the best use of my time, finding gratitude, and building quality relationships. I'm also really excited to reimagine what "healthy convenience" means to improve the lives of people who want access to healthy, nutritious meals and snacks when and where they want them!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been hearing my daughter pretend to run her own business. You make so many sacrifices to follow your dream, and you don't always know how that impacts your family. Hearing her playing made me realize becoming an entrepreneur has already had on her imagination and view of what's possible.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being a business owner is finding the time to do all of the things you want and need to do. It also is difficult to make time for self-care and renewal when you're pouring so much of yourself into taking your business to the next level.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If you can grind for someone else's company, you can grind for yourself.
  2. Stop second-guessing your ability to make decisions.
  3. You can always learn something new.
