What's your business, and who are your customers?

I make skincare products like soap bars, shampoo bars, body butters, and solid conditioner bars with natural ingredients and colorants. My customers are those wanting an alternative to commercial soaps that are full of detergents, chemicals, and synthetics. My products are eco-friendly and free of plastics.

Tell us about yourself

I’m a mom of 2, US Army Veteran, and a wife living a simple life. I started making soaps when my son developed eczema, and nothing seemed to work. I tried a handmade lavender soap, and his skin started to improve. I started researching essential oils and natural soaps, and I started experimenting with different ingredients, colors, micas, shapes, etc. My friends encouraged me to make a business out of my hobby, and here I am today.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is when customers tell me my products work for their skin, and they keep ordering and telling others about my products. That is a great feeling and it keeps me going!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Doing everything! I’m a solopreneur, but organization is the key. One day I will have employees working for my business, but for now, I enjoy wearing all the hats in the business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
