Personalized Psychiatric Care - Nurtured Well

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sharon Fisher, Owner of Nurtured Well, LLC., located in Towson, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Nurtured Well, LLC is a boutique women's mental health practice. We provide comprehensive and compassionate psychiatric care, including therapy and medication. Our clients are women who value their mental well-being. We have a particular specialty with pregnant and postpartum women. All of our clinicians have extra training in caring for women during this time.

Tell us about yourself

I am a woman, wife, mother, psychiatric nurse practitioner, and mompreneur. I started Nurtured Well out of my own experience struggling with fertility, managing kids and work, and generally being a woman in the world. I wanted to create a place where women could be cared for. We nurture everyone else but forget ourselves. I often use a technique called cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in my work.

The heart of CBT is discovering underlying core beliefs. Often, they are maladaptive and cause a lot of painful feelings. The number one maladaptive core belief I repeatedly saw in my clients was "I am unlovable." I'm motivated every day to show women (and people in general) that they are worthy of love.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Getting out of the house every morning with two small children in tow.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Maintaining the confidence it will work. I am constantly fighting "imposter syndrome." That, and solving technical issues. I am not a computer person, so oftentimes, small things will take me an inordinate amount of time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find your tribe. It is imperative to have people in your life who wholeheartedly believe in you.
  2. Set very clear time boundaries. You can work all the time on your own business. It is really fun and exciting to start and grow a business. However, you will truly be more effective if you have downtime.
  3. Stay true to your mission and vision. You will hit bumps but don't let them (or your insecurity) derail you.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

It is very easy to fall into a scarcity mindset, especially in this day and age. However, the only way you can have the life you want is to live in abundance.

Entrepreneurship is a marathon. There are going to be some very low points along with the high points. I sincerely express gratitude every single day. Practices like that will keep you on your path, living in abundance.
