Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mariela Katz, Co-Founder of Nutterie, located in Montreal, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Nutterie is an online store selling nuts, dried fruits, seeds, mixes, and boxes for all of your nut milk essentials. We skip all the middlemen and import our goods from the best worldwide, allowing us to be very competitive when it comes down to pricing. Our bags are always of 1KG, offering our nut-loving clients semi-bulk resealable bags of nutty goodness. I'm particularly excited about our Nut Milk Boxes that we're releasing in the following days! As a nut milk maker and drinker myself, I know how fast my nuts go, and it was crucial for me to offer a real solution to the problem!

Tell us about yourself

While I was in the process of selling my first business, I knew I wanted to dive into the e-com world by having an impact on people's product choices, availability, and the overall accessibility of these products. I met my partner 4 years ago, and since then, I knew that we had to merge forces to create a business together! His know-how in importation and distribution (and sister company of Nutterie) makes us the ideal partners!

I love taking care of everything from branding, marketing, and influencer activations to product launches! I really thrive when I'm connected to people, and there's no better way than with a product that everyone loves. I get motivated by the problem we're solving on the daily and the love we receive from our clients! I love seeing YOU with your Nutterie goodies!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Selling my first business (marketing agency) and not being scared of doing something completely different (and succeeding in it)!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The things that are out of your control.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just start and perfect as you go.
  2. Your network is your net worth.
  3. Say YES more often.
