Improve Items to the Highest Impact - Official Sales Tips

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mike Manzi, Founder of Official Sales Tips, located in Boston, MA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

For small businesses without heads of sales, I entirely create the sales function, bringing in new business within 90 days. For other businesses, I provide their sales teams with contemporary coaching with immediate impact to raise win rates within 30 days.

Tell us about yourself

I have found myself in a rare situation to be competitive and discover the edge needed to win while also being thoughtful and process-oriented to take those edges and make them repeatable, thanks to my hall-of-fame father and math-major mother. Now I'm able to mix the frameworks that have helped me move companies from $0 to $50 million in sales with the specific issues of each firm to drive sales in a short amount of time.

Whether I'm working with a large e-commerce brand like Klaviyo or a small insurance company. Making a significant influence on people's lives gives me energy every day, which is why I'm excited that my work has received over 10M views—it implies I've had a significant impact!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

What I can't believe is that I started posting to TikTok in August of 2021 as a test, and now 100% of my business comes from TikTok, and I'm able to partner with companies for large investments within 30 minutes due to the credibility and value I put on social media.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner for me is controlling the "what-if" syndrome that comes off the back of each new accomplishment we hit.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a guide to help you stay on track.
  2. Have a project management system that's not just a whiteboard or notebook to ensure you're considering not only what needs to be done but when it can be done and what your workload looks like. (My recommendation is ClickUp).
  3. Only try to accomplish one thing per day. You'll do more, don't worry, but when you focus on just 1, you end up using those 8 minutes in between meetings and those 2 minutes after a call ends to chip away at that one thing vs. jumping from task to task.
