What's your business, and who are your customers?

Oleology Soap is an all-natural handcrafted soap company based in Brooklyn, New York. Our Artisan Soaps are made from scratch, using the timeless cold-processed soap-making method. I do small batches size that helps me ensure consistent quality. When formulating each product, I only use the finest natural ingredients directly from nature. I choose high-quality natural, vegan, parabens- free and animal cruelty-free ingredients from the best suppliers to ensure a hard, creamy, long-lasting, and cleansing bar of soap.

My soaps are an example of a mix of science and art. I love to mix colors, texture, and botanicals, which invites my customer to have a fun, healthy, and luxurious bath ritual. My customers are health-conscious people who care about their skin and their environment. People who love nature and art. People who have a strong preference for sustainable, eco-friendly, and natural ingredients products.

Tell us about yourself

I started Oleology Soap during the pandemic in my home. I have always enjoyed watching soap-making videos and reading about the saponification process and the soap formulations based on specific fatty acids. To be honest, I was intimidated by the process of soap making. However, when I decided to take things into my own hands and take action, the feeling was indescribable. Since that day, I had the vision of Oleology Soap in my mind; then, I started adjusting recipes and creating the whole Oleology Soap branding concept myself.

I am very proud of the products I create, which makes me want to share with all of you and keep working on all my ideas every day!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is to bring Oleology to life. Taking the first initiative to create my ideas into business, receive positive feedback from customers, and create a loyal customer community.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about running a small business is that, in the beginning, you are wearing all the hats. You will be your sales person, marketing person, graphic designer, your own accountant, and the business mastermind.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a detailed plan- clearly state your vision, describe your target, establish measurable goals, and set deadlines for each milestone along the way.
  2. Be organized- execute your ideas. It's paramount to find a healthy work-life balance.
  3. Be yourself and listen to your customers and understand your market.
