Tell us about yourself

Starting my career off as a Professional Makeup artist in 2013, I am a highly trained beautician with my certificate in Makeup Artistry from the MUD. Makeup School, a Certified MAC Makeup Artist, and a Licensed Esthetician/Permanent Makeup Artist in the state of California.

I started OOMPH Beauty Studio to create a safe space for artists to express their love for their craft, which returns to great experiences for our clients. I’ve always loved the relationships that have come out of working with clients. I go to work every day knowing I’m providing a relaxing, confident-boosting experience for my clients.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would like to say the biggest accomplishment is opening up the salon. I’ve always dreamed of my own beauty studio since I entered the industry. I also like to pride myself on the amazing team I was able to put together, thanks to my awesome business partners and employees!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The balancing act. Knowing when to put things down and enjoying personal time without working has always been my biggest struggle.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a plan to back up your vision. A clear timeline always helps to execute your visional successfully.
  2. Have rainy day funds for your business too. Most businesses fail in the first three years. A business always has its ups and downs, so keep at least a month or two of overhead stashed.
  3. Connect with clients. Word of mouth is still by far the best type of marketing out there, and it’s FREE! A good connection with clients can grow your client base exponentially.
