Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Abdurahim Shodmonov, Founder of Organics Nature, located in Reisterstown, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a health and wellness brand centered around a product called Sea Moss. Our customers are, on average, 35 years old and older, looking to improve their internal and external well-being.

Tell us about yourself

I'm 21 years old and immigrated from the small city of Bukhara, Uzbekistan, in 2013. I have been living in Baltimore, MD, ever since. I first got into entrepreneurship back in high school, re-selling shoes and products from thrift stores. Eventually, I got into e-commerce and started this brand during the pandemic in 2020. I noticed a lot more people started looking into improving their immunity and health to take care of their bodies to fight against the viruses. So, I came across sea moss.

After doing a lot of research, I found out that it is packed with minerals and vitamins; it is known to have 92 minerals. Now, after two years of running this business and getting thousands of people coming back month to month to consume this amazing superfood, my motivation is to keep building the community bigger and bigger. The ultimate goal is to explore other products that are very beneficial and nutrient-packed to offer our community.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is waking up every day and reading positive reviews from our consumers. It brings so much satisfaction and motivation to keep going.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think one of the hardest things as a business owner is the responsibility of taking care of many families and people's lives.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make decisions quickly because indecisiveness kills progress.
  2. Every decision has to prioritize ethics and morals because even if you make a wrong decision in terms of company growth, you know you did not take the bad route, but you simply learned.
  3. Communication. It is essential to have good communication because you need it every step of the way, whether that is between your customers, your employees, your suppliers, etc.
