Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Katherine Morton, Owner of Pain and Wellness Solutions, located in Stirling, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I perform bodywork using various methods such as Bowen, myofascial release, scar tissue release, trigger point, use of essential oils, and Reiki on people. Equine and other animals include the same modalities but can also include massage and tensegrity therapy. My specialty is Rider/Equine combinations and sports injuries. Clients, people, or animals, range in age and occupation and can have acute or chronic conditions.

Tell us about yourself

I have always wanted to work on animals. Due to a car accident, I found Bowen Therapy and started on the journey to help other people who, like me, couldn't find long-lasting relief. Through Bowen for people, I found Bowen for Equine and other animals. This started my journey to learn as much about the body as possible and different techniques. There is no bigger joy than to see how we can aid the body to help itself, bringing balance back to the body, and see the response from all clients who start to feel themselves again on a physical, mental and emotional level.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Never stopping to learn new techniques. Helping people and animals help themselves.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, it is all about education about what Bowen is and how it can provide long-lasting effects on the body by finding the root cause of the issue.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't give up; there will be hills and valleys, but one day, those hills and valleys will become less.
  2. Believe in what you do and why you are doing it; your passion will bring clients.
  3. Utilize people, support groups, and companies that can give you advice and help on your journey to success. Never be afraid to ask questions if you don't know something.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I love what I do, and I love seeing the positive results.
