Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Stuart Hui, Owner of Paradigm Performance Center, located in Elgin, IL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Paradigm Performance Center is passionate and dedicated to helping athletes return to their optimum performance status by maximizing their athletic potential. By combining the four pillars of mindset, movement, nutrition, and recovery, we will help you to improve your quality of life by achieving wellness goals and assisting with your body's healing process. Our team will treat existing conditions and strive to educate in the prevention of recurring injuries. We will observe current functional movements and capabilities to create a custom program to benefit your health and performance.

Tell us about yourself

I created Paradigm Performance Center because I recognized that there was a gap in the process of an athlete being released from medical care and being allowed to return to play.

Our mission statement is what drives our vision, passion, and growth: "Paradigm Performance Center seeks to help athletes return to their performance status and facilitate their training to maximize their athletic potential. By combining the four pillars of fitness - mindset, nutrition, movement, and recovery - paradigm will help athletes improve their performance, increase longevity, and prevent injury!"

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

It has been quite an honor to be a part of the journey and successful recovery of so many athletes. I have enjoyed watching them grow not only as athletes but as respected and upstanding parts of our community as well.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

It is sometimes difficult to recognize that it may not always be "your time." Opportunities will come and go, and we, as business owners, have to recognize that perseverance and staying true to our mission statement and passion are important for growth and success.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have an open mind, always be willing to learn, and also recognize when you are wrong or discover that there is a better way.
  2. Have fun! Do the things that make you want to jump out of bed every day.
  3. Stay humble. Be confident, not cocky.
