Digital Experiences for Startups & Tech Companies - Pedro Gil

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in product development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Pedro Gil, UX & UI Designer based in Lisboa, Portugal.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My work has involved designing digital experiences incorporating UX/UI design, tech, and business strategy. I help cool startups, and tech companies bring their wild ideas to life through unique digital products and services. It's been a wild ride for the past 14 years, and I love every minute of it!

Tell us about yourself

I consider myself a multidisciplinary Designer, maker, brand builder, and typography lover living in Lisbon, Portugal, and working worldwide. When I'm not busy crafting beautiful designs, you can find me near the ocean, soaking up inspiration and recharging my creative batteries. There's something about the vastness and tranquility of the sea that just fuels my passion for design.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Launching my studio was like a dream come true, but now it's a reality! Building a fantastic team, successfully launching awesome projects every month, and getting the studio to where it is today has been one of my most significant accomplishments. It's been a wild journey, full of ups and downs.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

As a firm believer in the concept of extreme ownership, I'd say that one of the toughest things about being a business owner is the level of responsibility that comes with the role. When you're the captain of the ship, the success or failure of your business ultimately falls on your shoulders. It can be a lot of pressure to handle, but accepting this responsibility with a mindset of extreme ownership can help you navigate the journey and face even stronger winds.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Keep an eye on the quality and others on the energy: Keep quality in check but also keep tabs on the energy around it. After all, positive vibes attract positive clients.
  2. Stay flexible and adaptable: Running a business means constantly evolving and being open to change.
  3. Do less to do more: Knowing when to take a break and not take things too seriously is key to staying sane and successful.
