Grow Your Business Online - Phil Chow

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in marketing services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Phil Chow, Founder of Noticedwebsites.com, located in Richmond, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I offer web design, e-commerce, and digital marketing services, like reputation marketing, to any sized business. I can currently work with any business niche; I work primarily with small businesses, from restaurants to professionals like chiropractors and consultants in the US.

Tell us about yourself

I first got interested in the Internet and writing code for it, so I taught myself how to code websites. I later switched to code writing tools and then to the WordPress platform as it matured into a robust web design tool and content management system. What motivates me each day is building out and customizing websites that meet a business' vision for their site, that gets their business found online and convert its website visitors into potential customers. I also enjoy coming up with digital marketing strategies that help businesses better market themselves online, such as establishing their stellar reputation to customers by researching what others say about them online.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment to date, in 2022, is designing many various website templates in many business niches that businesses can select from. As I already laid the template out, I can then quickly design the website they selected to their liking with their content and images. They thus get their website online quicker, and I can also pass on pricing savings to them because of this efficiency. Website-wise, another is creating an e-commerce website for an artist to sell close to now 100+ of his paintings online. The site is easy to navigate and looks great, which creates customer trust and authority for him as a wildlife painter.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

That would be organising my time and not taking on too many client projects. Otherwise, I get to spread out too thin in terms of not adequately giving each client the attention they deserve, being a one-person web design and marketing agency.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a marketing plan in place and spend at least one day per week carrying out the plan to market your business.
  2. Provide great customer service, delivering the services that customers will vouch for you online, which creates an overall positive online reputation for your business.
  3. Provide value upfront so potential customers can trust doing business with you.
