Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Shena Banks, CEO of Plug To The Streets LLC., located in Memphis, TN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Plug To The Streets specializes in marketing for business owners who are in need of more traffic outside of social media. Also, we offer marketing and educational podcasting, which is called Plug To The Streets: Boss Edition. The purpose of Plug To The Streets: Boss Edition Podcast is to educate and uplift inspiring entrepreneurs and current business owners.

Tell us about yourself

Everyone calls me Shena B, and that name has grown on me. I started three years ago trying to find something that would be second nature to me. I was a retail store manager for over ten years, which made dealing with various personalities easier for me. However, once I left the retail world, I created my own retail lane. It was great, but I knew that was not all I had to offer. One thing about myself is I try to help everyone, but I find it easier to help those who choose to help themselves. I knew no matter the name of my business, marketing and educating other was my second passion. My first passion is being a mother.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My business accomplishment as a business owner is being welcome to any state to help business owners, and they see me as a mentor and not a competition. They welcome me with respect. Believe it or not, every business owner has taught me something, whether it's about myself or business-related.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is when your back is against the wall, and you do not know which way to go because all you can hear is doubt. I have had that moment before where you question your own ability. That's how I birth Plug To The Streets: Boss Edition Podcast. I knew I was not the only one. I have a circle of business owners that keeps me going, and they hold me accountable.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

JUST START! Your vision is yours, and it's yours alone. In order to run that business, you must have great customer service, and in order to keep growing that business, you have to stay consistent. It shows people you are serious and you love what you do. It will be hard at times, and the people who you think will support you surprisingly will not. Keep your eyes and mind on your vision.
