Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Svetlana Kazantseva, Founder and CEO of PlumThyme, located in Palo Alto, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

PlumThyme is an FDA-registered brand of reusable period products working to end period waste and stigma. Our customers are everyone who menstruates.

Tell us about yourself

As a mom, I care about the amount of waste our society creates and leaves for future generations to deal with. Did you know that a disposable menstrual pad takes 500-800 years to decompose? Also, many single-use products are not healthy to use due to the chemicals they contain, not to mention how uncomfortable they can be.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In just under two years in business, PlumThyme has diverted hundreds of thousands of single-use menstrual products from ending up in landfills, and we keep hearing the stories of how happy people are after switching to reusable pads.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Reusable period products are just starting to become more and more popular, and it's quite a challenge to convince people to try a reusable option instead of the very convenient throw-away-after-1-use product.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Choose to work on something you are truly passionate about! The journey won't be easy, and there'll be many times you'd be thinking of quitting. Passion is what will help you to keep going, overcome difficulties and reach amazing goals.
