Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rachel Greenwell, founder of Rachel D. Greenwell LLC., located in Louisville, KY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is life & spiritual coaching. But my niche is self-worth. I teach women their worth so they can uplevel their lives in love, health, and wealth. Readers should want to support my business because I have pure intention to create something I call World Worth. World Worth is my vision for the future. It is a reality where every person on the planet knows their own value and loves themselves. Based on the spiritual law of attraction, we create our reality based on our inner world. When we know our worth and practice self-love, we can end internal conflict, creating world peace. I believe we will never achieve world peace without first creating world worth. World peace is the goal...world worth is my mission.

Tell us about yourself

I began working on my business because I felt a strong desire to do something BIG that helps a lot of people. I didn't know what that was, but I was available to be used by God to do good works in the world. It all started with a small youtube channel. Eventually, the drive deepened after working in mental health organizations and seeing that I couldn't help people in the way I wanted without restrictions. I knew I needed to do my own thing.

Each day, what motivates me to do what I do is every moment someone tells me that my work changed their lives. The thank you's in my inboxes and the tearful hugs I get when women say, "I love myself today, and it's thanks to you." This work is healing the hearts of my community, and I CAN'T stop. I've spent money investing in my business and struggled to pay bills growing this thing. IT IS NOT FOR THE MONEY. I work my ass off...so it's definitely not about luxury and vacations for me. I've fought like hell to be here and had to believe in myself when no one else did. So it's not for the notoriety. It's because my heart knows I'm in alignment with God's will for me when I'm teaching women their worth. It's what I'm here for. I don't know how to do anything else. God put me here to teach women how to wear a crown.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Writing my book How to Wear a Crown. After getting fired from a mental health organization, I wrote that book on unemployment insurance. I had an infant son in my arm typing with one finger most days and still hit my 2000 word count daily goal. I had no clue how I was going to do it. I was broke and clueless about the world of publishing. But God said, "write this book," and I wrote the damn book. Rain, storm, snow...I wrote the book. It changed the course of my career to publish How to Wear a Crown.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Having to think about how to make money, lol. I'm a service-based entrepreneur. I want to go out and give everything away to everyone for free. But a business is not sustainable like that. So pricing and charging and revenue and all of that "businessy" I would rather not have to be concerned with. That part is hard for me.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just start—get the EIN, go to incfile and get the LLC, make the FB page, and whatever else you can do at your fingertips. Start where you are with what you have. You'll never feel ready. So don't wait...just do it.
  2. Ask for help—business is hard. There are tons of people out there who have come before you, so reach out to get help from them. I spent six years trying to do every role, learn all the parts, and wear all the hats in my business. That was the wrong thing to do. If I could go back, I would get help and delegate responsibilities early on and just do the part that I'm great at.
  3. Pray, pray, pray—have a deeper purpose than money or the title of business owner. Find your core purpose and cling to that. Then stay in prayer about how to co-create that purposeful business with God. I couldn't have done one single part of this without God. God is the only one who can see your vision with you, so stay connected spiritually.
