What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own Recherché Organics (pronounced Rae-Sher-Shea. Organics). We are a small-batch beauty care company focused on women who are just seeing the first signs of aging and wish to age with grace.

Tell us about yourself

I went to school as an herbalist and for holistic nutrition. At some point along the way, I realized that my passion was in teaching people how to "feed their skin" top-shelf ingredients to help them age gracefully.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have accomplished many things that I am proud of, but one of the most significant is that we hire youth and at-risk youth girls, teach about entrepreneurship, work ethic, time management, and so much more.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Currently, the most difficult thing is supply chain issues. This continues to be a struggle that we have had to work with and around for the three years post-pandemic.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find your "WHY." When you know and understand why you are doing something and the drive and passion behind it, it will carry you through the difficult days as a business owner.
  2. Figure out how to position yourself well in the current hiring market. How will you find good employees, and how will you keep them?
  3. Who is your target market? I promise no one is for everybody, and having too broad of a target will dilute your brand.
