Brings the Good Vibes - Remi TV

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in content creation but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Remi Jones, Founder of Remi TV, located in Cranston, RI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Remi TV is an independent platform. My objective is to carry through positive reflections of stimulating dialogues from celebrities and entrepreneurs alike. Ideally, guests would vary in diverse fields such as music, art, lifestyle, business, relationships, and inspiration. My targeted guests are individuals who are making a difference in their communities. By showcasing underprivileged voices while providing a platform to tell their stories free of discrimination, I aim to inspire the masses.

Tell us about yourself

I first started my television show when I realized that I didn't want to work for anyone else. I was working as a correspondent for a television show in New York City. An old friend of mine suggested that I do my own show, and at first, I was nervous and didn't want to. Then later, I changed my mind and went ahead and did it. That is how Remi TV was born. What motivates me to keep going is my goal to continue breaking family curses. I want to be the first person in my family to be somebody.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is bringing resources to Rhode Island. I had a business expo where I was able to bring speakers to teach people the differences between LLC and a sole proprietorship, as well as learn how to start your non-profit organization, etc.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is not receiving the help you need from the leaders in the community. I used to come across gatekeepers all the time, and it was so frustrating to have goals and dreams and for others to be able to block them.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The first tip I would give is to save your money. Starting and running a business costs money from LLCs and trademarks. The more money you save to start your business, the less money you may need to take out for a loan. So keep your 9-5 and keep stacking.

You are going to need a great team. Get a group of dedicated people together and help one another reach goals; for example, you have a restaurant and need a bread maker. Your friend is a bread maker, but he needs help with a website, and you're a master at websites. Then you would help him with his website in exchange for him making bread for you for a few months.

Never ever give up, no matter how hard things get. There will be so many ups and downs and people telling you NO left and right. Don't let that stop you from keeping going.
