Tell us about yourself

I have been working with the applications of storytelling for thirty years. I started this current iteration of my work with Scott Livengood, the former CEO of Krispy Kreme Donuts. I believe that when leaders and companies embrace the liberating technologies of storytelling, they are better positioned to attract and retain the best talent.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Developing the MasterStory Experience program. And publishing our newest book Story Intelligence.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Maintaining momentum.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get clear on who you are and your core values.
  2. Figure out where your passions intersect with the deep needs of today's world and solve an important problem for others.
  3. Hire people who are smarter than you.
