What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Rockefeller Audio! I write, produce, and host two weekly true crime podcasts, Forensic Tales & Anatomy of a Massacre. Our customers are our listeners! Anyone who loves podcasts and true crime.
Tell us about yourself
My career in true crime podcasting started in college. I graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and Forensic Science. I also have an M.S. in Forensic Psychology. My podcast company started in 2020. I had always listened to true crime podcasts, but I wanted to start my own. And that's when Rockefeller Audio was born! Over the last three years, I've stayed motivated because I'm doing what I'm passionate about and love. It's easy when it doesn't feel like work!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is having my podcasts downloaded all over the world. It's an amazing feeling as a business owner knowing my show is reaching all types of listeners.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Time management is difficult. As a business owner, it's easy to get wrapped up in the little things or unimportant things. It's so important to remember your priorities and stick to them. It's hard to remember not to sweat the small stuff.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My first tip is to find something you're very passionate about. That will help the business grow even when times are tough. The second is to be unique. Find a space for a business and look for the niche. And finally, don't give up! It's not always going to be easy. But it will always be worth it.
