What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is helping companies manage their Human Resources. I help them navigate employment law, and give them attraction and retention strategies, help terminate employees.
Tell us about yourself
I started 30 years ago wanting to help businesses be efficient. Talent is how the business thrives. Along the journey, you learn how to attract talent, and then you have to keep talent. After spending 30 years in large companies honing my craft, I wondered how small companies were able to do this, which is what inspired me to open my practice. I focus on smaller companies that really need the expertise but cannot afford it in-house.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Meeting the client's needs and their business excel.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I think the hardest thing is compliance. There are so many agencies you have to be in compliance with, Federal and State Wage and Hour, Civil Rights Department, CAL-OSHA, Public Health Department, IRS, State taxes, and unemployment taxes.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Take the time and do a business plan. Know the market you are going to serve. Get out and meet as many people as you can. You have to market your business.
