What's your business, and who are your customers?
Aloha, I am a naturopathic physician working with women as they approach peri-menopause (the 10 years around menopause, which is the ending of your period for one full year). This is a tricky time for many women with mood changes, weight gain, sleep problems, and also often major life changes (empty nest, retirement, and relationships ending).
Tell us about yourself
I started my practice in Kailua-Kona in 2001. I enjoy helping women with hormonal imbalances who are often not helped by conventional medicine.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I ran two successful practices from 2001-2020, first on the Big Island & then added Maui in 2010.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest part is keeping myself from being spread too thin. It is important to practice good self-care, which is a big part of my work with women.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
How many years do you plan to work for yourself? This will determine how you structure your investment- i.e., can you buy an office, what type of equipment will have the best ROI. Always get the best you can afford; it will pay off in the long term.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I am very blessed to have made my career part of my calling in life. I now only see clients virtually, so I am not locked in Hawaii, and anyone in the world can work with me.
