Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kim Evans, owner of Salon couture, located in Sicily Island, LA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Currently, at the salon, I strictly do hair and now provide Stay Linked jewelry. We live in a really small town, so I do the clients I have and don’t usually take walk-ins.

Tell us about yourself

I have been licensed since 1992. Three children and four grandkids later, I have scaled way back on our services. The extra money is what keeps me here, but I would love to be able to sit back a delegate a few things so I could spend quality time with the grandkids.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being debt-free is amazing.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I have a child with a disability, and it’s hard at times to leave her knowing she is having a bad day.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Jump!!! You’ll never know if you can do it unless you try.
  2. The customer is always right. Be courteous!!!
  3. Save for the rainy days. The pandemic took most of my savings. So as I turn 54, I feel like I’m still starting over.

Where can people find you and your business?
