The Ultimate Demand for Your Attention - Samad Robinson

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Samad Robinson, owner of Stash Me Clothing, located in Philadelphia, PA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Loaded question, so I own and operate an apparel brand called Stash Me Clothing. I own and operate a coffee brand called Aivilo Coffee, and I have a media company titled SR Now Media.

Tell us about yourself

So for as long as I can remember, I've had a passion for creating and a creative way of looking at things. Every business I created started from me just having an idea and sustained belief in my idea. I am motivated daily by watching something birthed in my imagination blossom and grow right in front of me. I kind of view my businesses and intellectual properties as artificial children and nurture them as such.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my biggest accomplishments with Stash Me Clothing was its intentional reach. Appealing to different places around the globe with language barriers and cultural differences was not something I foresaw developing this brand. Appealing and marketing to different international markets are now integrated into the business.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The short answer is the amount of responsibility and trust. Whether you have employees, consultants, contractors, or whatever, everything that could not be solved is now your problem to fix. As the owner, you're just figuratively putting out fires all day. The other thing is dealing with trust. First of all, you have to trust in someone or something along the journey because you can't do everything yourself. The social aspect of dealing with customers, employees, other business owners, partners, lawyers, and more is not talked about enough in entrepreneurship. It's very important.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Before you spend a dollar, make sure you know as much as you can about the industry you are about to get into.
  2. You can't do everything yourself. Never be afraid to seek help or assistance at any time.
  3. Pay attention to the customer's experience and tweak and adjust when necessary.
