Tell us about yourself

I was born and raised in Colombia and moved to the DC area in 2013. I have a major in Business Administration and a master’s degree in management development. I have more than 20 years of experience in operating and managing a business. I live with my lovely husband, Erik, and my amazing furry baby Lulu, my cat. I started working in this field ten years ago; I saw the necessity that the community has to grow as a contractor, and I saw the lack of information and reserves to get prepare to get the license. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, working out, and watching movies at home. I love meeting new people and places as much as I enjoy reading a good book.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Not only that my team and I have been able to help the community but also to provide jobs, educate, to build a strong foundation to help the ones looking for information. As business owners, we encourage other starters to grow from start to finish. My biggest accomplishment is to see so many people opening their own businesses and growing as they go.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

To start, I think that starting a project is always the hard part. Knowing that I have a dream and not understanding how to make it happen was really hard for me, but having the right team by my side and the best support made me realize that what I wanted to do and have was doable, and we could keep growing.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Always think about connections and relationships. Having a good network around you that can support what you do will make the foundation stronger.
  2. Know your service and products. There is nobody else than you that will believe in what you do 100%. Make sure you know your services and products from A to Z; that way, you can improve and make it better as you go. Do your homework, and be constantly learning.
  3. Communicate once you are sure and have established your business. Let your friends and family know about it and market yourself.
