Go Beyond Coping - Self-Mastery Transformation

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey  but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marcy McDonald, Owner of Self-Mastery Transformation, located in Prescott, AZ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Self-Mastery Transformation. I work with entrepreneurs who are struggling because how they feel about themselves is getting in the way of everything they do. They can’t focus, they second-guess themselves, and they feel like imposters. When they work with me, they stop wasting time and start making money.

Tell us about yourself

I started working as a coach after learning about the impact of the Emotional Mind and the Rational Mind on how you feel and how you can change. I developed a 3-D coaching tool called UnBlocks that you can write on, wash off, move in space, and work with symbolically to build new neural pathways that are emotionally healthy and to cut off old neural pathways that are negative and unhealthy.

A few years later, I became an End of Life Doula and realized that my coaching was missing a fundamental piece, which is the keen awareness of knowing that each day could be your last. Now I integrate this end-of-life perspective with neuroscience for a life-changing impact. What motivates me is the fact that I can change lives if I just keep going regardless of the junky, less-fun parts of being a solopreneur.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Every time, a client gets that they have the power, tools, and strategies to choose how they want to feel every day for the rest of their lives.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Having to try new things to get your business recognized and not known for quite a long time what that will be... but trying again anyway. Being an entrepreneur is one ongoing experiment, and you have to fully embrace that.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start with an emotionally healthy mindset, or you will struggle to succeed. If your mindset isn't healthy, deal with that first.
  2. When things don't work the way you hoped, don't take it personally. Feel your frustration--don't stuff your feelings--but then shrug your shoulders and say, "Okay, that didn't work. What did I learn from it? What can I do differently?" If you don't make it about you, you can keep on going and enjoy the challenge rather than letting the challenge bring you down.
  3. Get help from experts who know the things you don't know or aren't yet skilled at.
