Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Shalom Shore of Navya, located in Baltimore, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Navya is an online hypnotherapy clinic that provides a unique form of hypnosis called Hypnosis Assisted Psychotherapy. This form of hypnosis is intense and powerful and can lead to rapid change in clients. Our online hypnotherapy clinic is for motivated individuals who are committed to creating change in their lives and are willing to do the deep emotional work needed to achieve it.

Our sessions are best suited for clients who are open-minded: open to new experiences and worldviews and discovering new parts of themselves. It's also ideal for creative and imaginative people and for sensitive souls who care deeply about the world.

Tell us about yourself

I've been fascinated by psychology since I was a teen and trained to be a therapist in my early 20s. I happened to discover hypnosis as a client and found it so impactful in my own life that I was inspired to train in that modality to bring it to others.

Simultaneously, I have struggled with a myriad of mental health issues in my own life, much of which was rooted in my own traumatic upbringing. I find the process of supporting others in their journey of healing and becoming their happier, more capable, and more whole selves to be the most inspiring thing I could do. It makes the process of growing my business not even feel like work.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My greatest satisfaction has been helping clients and seeing their growth and transformation. Their progress means a lot to me.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think the hardest part is the things you can't control. A big part of that for me is having patience; I'm a big go-getter, and letting time take its course as part of growing a business is one of my biggest struggles.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I've worked as a coach for others based on my own experience as a marketer and entrepreneur. These are the main tips I'd give people:

  1. Do the inner work - so much of entrepreneurship is the mindset and being ready. Take the time to invest in yourself, including coaching, therapy, or any other processes you might need to overcome your inner blocks to success.
  2. Take action - you learn the most from doing. Even if you're not sure exactly what to do or how to do it, just trying something will teach you infinitely more. Beware of hiding behind endless courses and prep work as an excuse not to actually go out into the world and deliver the value you have to offer.
  3. Let the money be your guide - it's the truest indicator that you're delivering real value, and it's the one thing that will support long-term sustainability. Focus on actions that will lead to immediate cash flow
and focus on products, ideas, and services that have been validated by people actually paying for them already.
