Tell us about yourself

As a Bangladeshi American with hyperpigmentation and sensitive skin, it was challenging to find products that would work on my complexion and skin type for most of my life. When my husband called my ashy skin out on a date back in 2016, I was embarrassed but, more importantly, determined to find a solution. In this discovery phase, I came across plant-based ingredients, and that is when I started to see a shift in my skin health, and so I got hooked, went to aromatherapy school, and launched my business in January of 2017 because I wanted to share these ingredients and products with the world and help as many people as possible.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment to date is my hero product Cloud Cocoon body butter. I spent two years perfecting the formula. It's a beloved product that people can't get enough of and I hear so many stories all the time about how it's transformed their skincare ritual and upleveled their body care routine. This product brings me tremendous joy because it's helped me and so many others.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Bootstrapping a product based business has been the hardest thing. There are many challenges to scaling a business, which generally stems from access to capital. Bringing a product to market for one is expensive. The research and development stage is costly. Before a product reaches it's customer there are endless upfront costs associated to CPG businesses.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. Just start, you'll never feel 100% ready.

2. Be sure that you have a brilliant product and can stay committed to the business for at least ten years.

3. Almost every market is saturated, but know one is you, use storytelling to humanize your brand and attract like minded customers.
