What's your business, and who are your customers?

Skimos Coffee Shop is a small coffee shop with a variety of coffee, teas, lattes, frappes, and food. Local and tourist customers that visit Vegas all year around, all ages, from kids, teens, middle age, and seniors as well. Skimos offers drinks and food for everyone.

Tell us about yourself

I was born and raised in Mexico. One of our traditions is to have a cup of coffee in the company of family and friends, and my love for coffee got me to start something that I enjoy doing every day, offering something different, like Mexican flavors on many drinks and food from my heritage. What motivates me is to provide jobs and inspire other women to follow their dreams.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my accomplishments is to keep the business going after several years and provide jobs for the local community and be able to share my love for coffee with others.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Overcoming obstacles such as the pandemic and making sure every day we keep the consistency of excellent customer service and consistent on our product.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have discipline throughout the whole journal.
  2. Educate about the product or service you are doing.
  3. Do what you love and understand. It makes your job so much easier and more fun.
