What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are digital marketing consultants for the senior living industry.

Tell us about yourself

My digital marketing journey began in 2009 when I was in the financial services industry. I fell in love with using data to make creative decisions. Ever since then, I have worked in a variety of industries. In 2016, I brought my digital experience to the senior living industry as a Corporate Director of Marketing. In this role, I discovered a passion for serving an industry that is full of heart and passion for families across the country. I led the company to implement robust marketing automation and digital strategies. In 2019, I founded Smart Girl Digital, where I set out to provide my knowledge and experience to senior living providers as a digital consultant. Today, we work with senior living operators, owners, and management companies to provide expert guidance on digital marketing strategy, marketing automation, and Google traffic services. Knowing that we serve an industry that touches the lives of so many at a critical moment of care makes me want to show up every day to deliver honest, expert advice that helps our clients be more visible to the families they serve.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I never set out to be a big agency or business owner. Over the past year or so, our internal team has more than doubled, allowing us to serve more clients. Even better than that, Smart Girl Digital has become an employer that team members seek to join us on our journey.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Maintaining a healthy balance between business and personal life has been a learning experience.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

For anyone wanting to start, run or grow a business, I'd say

  1. Go for it! Trust your gut.
  2. Deliver value to your clients.
  3. Create healthy boundaries so you can continue to show up for your clients and your team.
