Inspiration & Guidance - Soul Captain

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ania Pobojewski, Founder of Soul Captain, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm the Founder of Soul Captain, a holistic well-being practice and media platform. I intuitively guide men and women who feel lost and disconnected from themselves to remember the essence of who they really are, to evolve spirituality by moving through any limiting patterns and beliefs, and to create an authentic life that they are in love with.

I do this by 1) working 1:1 with clients to channel Reiki (a form of energy healing) and guided intuitive messages 2) hosting a podcast that interviews amazing men and women who decided to follow their heart and intuition to create a life that is an authentic reflection of who they really are and 3) facilitating and guiding events, retreats, and workshops. I am also a DJ and use this medium to encourage people to feel and express themselves through dance.

My clients are generally men and women between the ages of 23-38 who are committed to their personal growth and evolution and to deepening their connection to themselves and to the Universe. They have started to wake up to the reality that there is more to life than what they were told, conditioned, or programmed to believe. They are committed to growing and overcoming any unswerving patterns that are standing in the way of their evolution. They know deep down that there is more for them and that they are capable of co-creating the life of their dreams. They know they are the masters of their fate and captains of their souls. They are ready for more.

Tell us about yourself

What first got me started on working on my business was my own spiritual journey. In my late 20s, I developed a case of debilitating cystic acne. I was desperate to find a cure, but none of the conventional approaches were working. I suspected that there was something deeper going on and that my angry red skin was a physical manifestation of a deeper wound. Then, I discovered the field of psychodermatology and learned that our skin is capable of expressing emotions and wounds that we repress. This started a deep spiritual journey of looking inwards at my own unhealed traumas, my mask of victimhood, and how I had repressed my creative and spiritual gifts.

I started to take radical responsibility for my own life. I stopped asking for permission and began to follow my inner guidance and took the leaps that felt right for me. One of those leaps was quitting my job as a lawyer to study reiki in Baja, Mexico, and become a certified Master Reiki Practitioner.

My own journey and intimately knowing the pain of living an inauthentic life that doesn't feel good or like yourself is what motivates me to do the work that I do. I know there are so many people out there with so much potential and gifts buried under layers of conditioning, programming, and self-doubt. They wake up and know that they have a bigger purpose. My own journey motivates me to guide these people to remember and accept who they are and show them that it is possible to manifest and live the life they were always meant for.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment to date is following my inner guidance to host what I call a Sunset Circle (an intimate ceremony on the beach at sunset) and reaching my goal of raising $1000 for a local children's orphanage in Puerto Escondido, Mexico.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing is moving past my inner critic, who tries to talk me out of doing this work. It's the inner procrastinator, the inner judge, the inner skeptic. I manage this by being aware of the voice and tuning into how it sounds. Usually, it comes from a place of fear or self-doubt in an attempt to protect me (although it's really doing the opposite). The key is to notice this and to choose to follow my intuition always.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Notice what recurring thoughts, ideas, visions, and themes keep coming up, maybe even years later. That's your intuition trying to point you in a particular direction.
  2. What would you do if no one paid you to do it? Do that.
  3. Start by offering your service to friends and family. Once you get comfortable, begin to charge and increase your prices accordingly. Value yourself.
