What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is called Spears Computer World, and we are a freelance web design agency. My customers are entrepreneurs, non-profits, and small to mid-size businesses.

Tell us about yourself

I took an HTML and CSE course in college, and this sparked my interest in web design. From there, I started to learn WordPress development, and in the process, I found my passion. What motivates me each day to do what I do is seeing the smiling faces of satisfied customer who is proud to have an online presence for their business!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was securing the business of a local non-profit agency. This partnership opened doors for more clientele.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Sometimes business can be slow, but it motivates me to get creative with my marketing. That has proven to be effective and helped me maintain a steady clientele.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don’t be afraid to fail. I’m doing this so you will learn to better run your business.
  2. Utilize social media because it is essentially free marketing. It helps to connect your brand with your followers and helps to obtain new clients.
  3. Be customer focused. In doing so, I have often found that customers will refer other clients to us because of how well we value our clients. This has been the main component of our success!
