Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Stacy Crawford, owner of Klear Water Coaching & Wellness, located in Duluth, MN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a strengths-based coach that engages with individuals and teams to grow self-awareness and confidence, create clarity, and produce results. I coach clients individually, help good teams become great teams, and increase employee engagement and belonging. Additionally, I create customized workshops and talks based on the client's needs. I am an accomplished speaker in many areas related to self-growth, communication, relationships, adversity, stress reduction, and mindfulness.

Tell us about yourself

I began my work with Klear Water Coaching & Wellness because I wanted to do more of what I love to do and to be valued in the work I do. I truly love connecting with people, and I am honored to witness the growth and changes my clients make.

I am motivated each day to help others to write inspiring "stories" about themselves that allow them to find more joy and happiness in life by doing more of what they love to do. I really enjoy watching people light up when they create positive change in their lives, find clarity, and achieve accomplishments they never dreamed of.

I value the Gallup Strengths (CliftonStrengths) Assessment because it provides a concrete language and pathway for self-awareness and development and levels the playing field in relationships and on teams. Common language creates an excellent relational tool that can bring about improvement in all relationships, even those at home.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been taking the steps to start the business because I believe that I have gifts and talents to share that can make a difference in the lives of others. My second biggest accomplishment is appearing on a live, local television show monthly!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, the biggest challenge as a business owner is trusting my gut and continuing to put myself "out there" in new ways. At the end of the day, I am my own editor, critic, and coach. I need to remind myself to take my own advice and celebrate successes!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Use local resources to help you conduct a market analysis and define what you need to start the business. I have worked with a local entrepreneurship group that has helped me with marketing, financing, and more.
  2. Figure out who your ideal client is and how to reach them.
  3. Create a support network and have FUN!
