What's your business, and who are your customers?

STAR has been providing Physical Therapy services in the Fairport community for the past 40 years. Our clients are proud members of Fairport and our surrounding communities looking to rehabilitate orthopedic injuries or recover from surgery.

Tell us about yourself

My parents, John and Marcia Spoto, opened this practice in 1982. My youth was an immersion course in Physical Therapy. I later pursued my Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree, graduating from the University of Buffalo in 2007. I'm proud to continue building on their legacy, helping people feel good and participate fully in their lives without pain!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is in the everyday care of my patients. I love helping people recover and learn what they are capable of doing.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner is carrying the stress of what's to come and decisions around the best path forward.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I've only been a business owner for one year, but if I had to give advice, I would say my 3 tips would be:

  1. Keep humility and perspective.
  2. Know that if you make a decision, you can always change course down the line.
  3. Surround yourself with supportive, positive people.
