Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nicole Scheitlin, Founder of Strong Mama Wellness, LLC, located in Ostrander, OH, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Strong Mama Wellness is an online fitness and wellness company helping new and expecting moms have a strong, healthy pregnancy, prepare for birth, and recover quickly postpartum. We provide customized fitness programming, education, and coaching for pregnant and postpartum clients.

Tell us about yourself

My name is Nicole Scheitlin, and I’ve been working in the fitness industry for 12 years as a personal trainer, fitness instructor, manager, and health coach. While fitness and health have always been a passion of mine, my own pregnancy journey influenced my decision to further my education in pre/postnatal fitness. When I started to see the impact of training my body for pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery, I realized how many women need to have this same information and support. Pregnant and postpartum people tend to be very underserved and also confused when it comes to exercise and how it can support a healthy journey into motherhood. My hope is to change that!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a business owner, my biggest accomplishment has been launching and growing my podcast, Strong Mama Podcast, which reaches hundreds of people every week with my message.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being a business owner is overcoming failures and roadblocks and deciding to continue because my vision is more important.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a really strong “why” to keep you connected to the impact you want to make.
  2. Start minimal. Just get out there and serve your people with valuable content. Don’t worry about having the perfect website, message, or branding.
  3. Find ways to “fail fast” and try things out. This provides data that will get you closer to your next best move.
