What's your business, and who are your customers?

Surya Wellness is a virtual wellness practice that offers Naturopathic & functional health consulting focused on women's health. I help women reclaim their health by:

  1. Helping them understand their bodies better.
  2. Supporting their bodies with lifestyle modification, dietary counseling, botanical medicine, and nutritional supplementation.
  3. Giving them a safe space to be seen & supported along their health journey.

Tell us about yourself

Hi! My name is Dr. Dimpi. I became a naturopathic doctor ten years ago because I wholeheartedly believe the body has an innate capacity to heal itself given the right environment to heal. I am proud of what I do because I have seen simple yet powerful naturopathic therapies like lifestyle modification or nutritional supplementation transform people's lives. I know the work I do is much needed, and that is my motivator.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would say the biggest accomplishment as a business owner is that the business I started nine years ago looks very different than the business it is today. It has grown & evolved into a business I can stand behind and be 100% proud of.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

This is a hard one as there are many challenges that come with being a business owner. I would say the hardest thing is that the success of the business relies on the consistency of efforts.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just get started. There are so many ideas that I didn't execute because I wasn't 100% sure or ready. But in imperfect doing, at least there is momentum and opportunity to grow/evolve vs. not taking any action.
  2. You are going to make a lot of mistakes — just accept that now. Perfection and entrepreneurship do not go hand and hand. Entrepreneurship is messy, and there are many highs and lows. If you know and accept this beforehand, you will better be able to take challenges head-on without feeling like you've constantly failed.
  3. The growth of the business almost always means the growth of you as a business owner. As your business grows, you will be pushed and challenged personally as well. You may have to confront and then tackle uncomfortable truths about yourself, insecurities, and/or negative beliefs in order to take your business to its next iteration.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Entrepreneurship isn't easy, and it isn't for everyone. But for me, it has been thrilling and continues the be an invaluable practice ground for accelerated personal growth. I wouldn't be the person I am today without all the lessons my entrepreneurial journey has taught me thus far.
