Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Suzanne Rose, founder of Empowering Serenity, located in Virginia Beach, VA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Empowering Serenity offers a life coaching consultation that focuses on the whole person spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically. As a mentor and facilitator, I use powerful processes and tools to get to the core issues to facilitate shifts and changes to reach the client's goals and objectives. One of my clients said, "Suzanne is a true artisan. She has the coaching chops and the intuition to get to the core of what is going on with you. She doesn't settle for superficial and keeps gently and persistently digging until she hits gold." My program is designed to assist others of all ages and stages to access their own healing empowerment and inner resources.

Tell us about yourself

I was challenged to my core when my husband experienced cardiac arrest in 2001. My life was instantly changed forever. Because of the event, he was left brain injured, and I became his caregiver until he passed away in 2006. As difficult as this was, it led me through an incredible growth and learning process in becoming more of who I am and walking the talk of spirituality. I sometimes wonder how I got through those many difficult days but with the support of friends and family, by keeping my sense of humor, and with a deep strength I found within myself, I kept moving through this period in my life. I truly believe these experiences are here to teach us to dig deep and find the resources within that are there for us during our struggles. With much healing, I discovered gifts within myself that I am now able to share with others in the form of coaching consultation, mentorship, and facilitating growth and healing.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is to support and see my clients re-create their lives.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

As a business owner, it is difficult in economically challenging times. If your clients are struggling financially, they do not have the funds for self-care needs.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do something you love.
  2. Create a business that serves humanity and the planet.
  3. Keep your own life in balance spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically, and take time for self-care, including time in nature.
