What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are in the business of encouraging people to move! Our mission is for physical activity to be normalized. We target every age range or gender, but our customers have mostly been women between the ages of 25 and 75.

Tell us about yourself

My grandmother planted the initial seed over 30 years ago. Her passing in 2011 of complications of cc’d and diabetes reinforced my conviction that physical activity is central to prevent, control, or/and manage certain health conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. My own health keeps me going, and if I can help or encourage others along the way, I’m fulfilling my purpose.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a woman and minority in the fitness industry, to still be going strong every day and operational since 2015 is an accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing for me is to be able to disconnect sometimes and maintain a good balance between me as an individual and as a business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your homework! Research your niche and the market. Create a business plan before you jump in.
  2. Follow your instincts, but calculate your risks as well before taking the plunge.
  3. Don’t listen to the people who only see the negative. If they are not in a position to mentor you, most likely, they are projecting their own fears onto you. Go for it!
