Style Your Way and Discover Hidden Gems - TEAG + GRAY

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fashion but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Teal Ready, owner of TEAG + GRAY, located in Squamish, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

TEAG + GRAY is a fashion boutique, but it has become more than that for me and others. It is a safe and inclusive space, a place for anyone to chat about their hopes, fears, their body… it's a place for laughter and tears. It has become a place where we can unapologetically be ourselves. Regain our sense of self.

Tell us about yourself

For me, the isolation of Covid inspired me to write the business plan. We moved from Whistler to Squamish when restrictions prevented anyone from networking or connecting. How was I to work on a new career path? So I decided to get to work on my own vision. I certainly had a lot to learn as it was new territory, but there was no turning back once I committed. I saw the population growth n our community and the Sea to Sky. I know from personal experience there are not many options for us. I knew we were going to come out of Covid at some point. And I wanted to be there! I LOVE being here to help women feel great! I love the conversation. The stories. Experiencing someone feels confident again in themselves... is truly a lovely thing to see and be a part of.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Honestly, working through the fear. The insecurities. Taking the risk to be here.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Sleeping at night!! Haha. Seriously. I have so many things running through my mind all the time! It's hard to turn it off sometimes. Finding Balance is a challenge for sure.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I do not feel I am experienced enough to give specific tips. I can, though...
Do not let fear stop you. It is all a risk; Life is a risk. Write out your thoughts, create a business plan, and ask for help. You will make mistakes, but you can learn from them. Lean into your vision.
