Make Every Moment Into an Adventure - The Adventuress Soap

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Julie Sanchez, Founder of The Adventuress Soap Co., located in Denver, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My name's Julie, and I'm the founder of the Adventuress Soap Co, where I sell travel-inspired soaps, fragrances, and more! My customers are travel lovers who love being transported to different destinations through fragrance.

Tell us about yourself

I am a wandering adventuress who escaped a 9-5 job to take an internship in Belgium. After traveling throughout Europe and enjoying far too much beer, chocolate and champagne, I decided my next adventure would take me to Asia, where I roamed around tea plantations in Taiwan, had my fortune told in Hong Kong, and became an English teacher in Shanghai. While in Shanghai, I fell in love….with soapmaking and became passionate about creating a bath and fragrance line based on my travels around the world.

I wanted to create a line of soaps and fragrances that could transport you to other places wherever you are, whether it's the icy beauty of Iceland or the sunbaked beauty of Rome. The fragrance is one of the most visceral of the senses, and it has the power to transport you instantly back to a memory, place, or person.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my biggest accomplishments is being part of an awesome co-op store called Eclectic Co, where I sell my products in person. I'm also proud that I've shipped my products to 49 states - just waiting on you, Hawaii!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being a business owner is rewarding, but sometimes it can feel like you're on an island, especially if you're a solopreneur. While working on the creative side of the business is a lot of fun, the back-end stuff like financials and taxes can be challenging

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My first tip is to just do it! There are many resources out there to help you if you are building a business.

My second piece of advice is to network with other small business owners. Collaborating and networking with others is so valuable. Also, delegate tasks and focus on processes that will help you be more efficient and save time and money.

And my last piece of advice is to keep going. Keep going, keep educating yourself, and keep improving.
