Tell us about yourself

I've been a Registered Dietitian for over 15 years. After traveling all over the Mediterranean, I knew I wanted to create a space to share this beautiful diet and lifestyle with others looking to adopt healthier habits without strict rules.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In December 2020, I published my first cookbook, The Mediterranean Diet Made Easy! The entire process was eye-opening, and I am so proud of the finished result. My goal with the cookbook was to share what the Mediterranean Diet is with others and share 75 fresh and simple recipes that anyone can follow.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think the hardest part is being a jack of all trades. I'm not only the content creator but also the accountant, social media manager, IT person, website designer, customer service agent, and so much more. It's fun to learn all the different moving parts, but it can be very overwhelming, and no day quite goes as planned. It definitely keeps you on your toes.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Always keep your ideal customer in mind when developing content or sharing information, especially on social media. There's always a strong pull to try and appeal to the masses but staying on message and trying to help your ideal customer enables you to hone your message.
  2. I would say just go for it! I have a bad habit of not wanting to push the button on projects until they are perfect, but they aren't ever perfect. Just go for it and then take on the corrections or lessons as they come.
  3. If you aren't the expert at something, find someone who can help you. I don't have the knowledge to deal with back-end computer issues or fix things when my website has problems, so I've learned that I need to outsource for that.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Supporting and building up other businesses is a great way to connect and give back. There's enough room in the world for all of us to succeed, and if we can rise while helping others, then that makes the journey so much more valuable.
