Exercise Should Be Fun - The Fun Of Working Out

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alan Raisman, Founder of The Fun Of Working Out, located in Allentown, PA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is the Fun of Working Out. For me, working out was never fun. It wasn't something I looked forward to doing, and I didn't know what to do. I wanted something that I enjoyed and could follow along to. My boyfriend introduced me to Beachbody On Demand and their dancing program Country Heat, one of Beachbody's 80 workout programs. I did the 30-day program and fell in love with what Beachbody offered. I've continued with the programs for almost five years now and completed thirteen of the Beachbody workout programs.

Tell us about yourself

When I first started Beachbody workouts, I got through two months and stopped. Life got in the way. I needed to find a way to inspire myself to keep pressing play and working out. I do marketing for a living, and social media keeps me motivated. I started posting videos of me doing Beachbody workouts on Instagram and the three Facebook groups I run. This way, I have to work out in order to keep creating content. When the stimulus money was given out during the pandemic, I used that money. I hired a web developer to build a website for my new business. On my website, people can try six sample workouts of Beachbody, see the Facebook groups I run, and contact me if they want to learn about the entire program.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is that I worked out 251 of 365 days in 2021. I would not have worked out that often if I didn't have social media to keep me accountable.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest part is getting people to understand that they can start their journey anytime. I never lifted weights before Beachbody. I never boxed before Beachbody. I never ran before Beachbody. Now I lift weights 4 days a week. I box several times a month. And I run more now than ever before.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I tell every entrepreneur to figure out what they like to do for fun and figure out how they can monetize it. Though I didn't become a Beachbody coach to leave my full-time job. I became a Beachbody coach to make sure I don't stop working out. However, creating an additional source of income is something I recommend for everyone. But choose a business that you enjoy talking about, that you enjoy waking up to, and that you enjoy growing day in and out.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I don't want to sell you anything right away. I just want you to try and see what you can do. Try to dance, box, run, lift and more through the six sample videos on my website and see how fun working out can be, how challenging a 30-minute video program can do and how proud you will feel after you finish the video.
