What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a full-service restaurant and gift shop specializing in tea parties. Our food is made fresh every day right here in our own kitchen. We have a beautiful gift shop with lots to choose from. We also carry 45 different flavors of tea.

Tell us about yourself

I worked for a restaurant company for 21 years before opening my own restaurant. I used to have tea parties at home for my friends, so when my employer sold the company, and we were all laid off, I decided to open my own business. I love what I do, the wonderful customers we have, and the privilege of serving and making people happy.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My daughter and I have a beautiful and successful business. Our customers are happy and come back often. We have a great reputation for good food, excellent service, and a beautiful tea room.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Keeping up with the day-to-day paperwork that comes with owning a business is always a challenge, but we get it done. Like most businesses these days, it's hard to have sufficient staff to take care of our busy days.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

You have to expect to work hard. It's not an 8-hour day where you clock out and go home. It's hard work but so satisfying to know you've built a successful business.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

We love what we do! We love our customers and want to share the tea party experience with everyone. It's fun!
