Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Goran Yerkovich, Founder of The-Inspired.com, located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a writer, podcaster, and consultant, but most importantly, I'm the proud son of immigrant parents who taught me many things, including the power of story. My business is in the power of story to help bring advancement to anyone looking for career or life advice. This is via my articles, podcast, and courses. Our core audience is the 35 - 45 age professional market, but really, it's anyone ready to improve or advance their career or life.

Tell us about yourself

In 2017 I took some time off from the corporate world to begin working on Goran 2.0, which is when The-Inspired.com website was born. I was burnt out from the constant business grind. From the projects, the meetings, and the endless push of moving someone else's vision forward. I was exhausted from working on someone else's dream, and I knew then it was time I started working on my own.

Why am I doing this? Well, in life, I believe it's not about what you get but what you give. And my online magazine The-Inspired.com is designed to help those looking for a change in their life, big or small. It's also designed for immigrants looking to make a place like Canada or the USA home.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

With over two million articles read in over 130 countries, press releases picked up by hundreds of news agencies across the globe, and stories and interviews from some of the best and most brilliant minds, I love just how much The-Inspired.com and the podcast have resonated with a global audience. And I love hearing that an article or podcast episode helped someone reach a personal or professional goal.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Hard work does not mean success at the end of the day. It is a long winding road filled with ups and downs. There is no one set formula for success. So it's a process of trial and error.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your research before you get started. Learn about the market you plan to serve.
  2. Create a long runway for yourself. I'm talking years, not months.
  3. Adapt as you go. Watch trends. Listen to your customer; they'll tell you what they need.
